A DETERMINED Droitwich Spa RFC U8s are celebrating after winning the Moseley Festival.

Spa beat visitors Widnes 25-20 in the final of the prestigious event last Sunday.

Led by Scot Howell, tries from Josh Feek, Tom Flowerdew and two from Joe Ingle ensured victory.

Strong tackling by Joel Power, Sam Philips and Eloise Foulds never allowed the opposition defence to settle and stopped a spirited Widnes playing their game.

Victories against Birmingham Solihull, Pavoirs and St Mary's saw Droitwich through to the final.

Bromsgrove U9s finished runners-up in a tournament for the second week running.

Following their final defeat at the Stratford Festival Tournament, the team were beaten by hosts Moseley to take the silver plate from the Moseley Festival last Sunday.

Bromsgrove eased through the group games with three victories from four.

Two Chris Cornelissen tries and one each for James Harborne and William Patterson saw them beat Birmingham Solihull 20-0. Cornelissen and Harborne tries saw off Earlsdon 10-5.

St Mary's were brushed aside 25-0 with a pair of tries for Harborne and scores from Cornelissen, Patterson and Callum O' Carroll.

They lost to Moseley in their last group game but met them again the final after a semi-final defeat of Widnes.

Victory over Widnes, including a Jake Hudson hat-trick, put them into the final where they lost to the hosts.
