WORCESTER City manager John Barton has delayed issuing his retained list until next week.

The St George's Lane boss is waiting to see whether the club will be playing in the Conference North or South.

Barton admits it could make the difference between players staying or going.

"Where we play our football next season will have a big bearing on what will happen," he said.

"That's why I want to have all the information clearly in place before I make any firm decisions."

Travelling is the key factor and, with many of City's players living north of Worcester, Barton hopes the club will play in the north.

However, their fate could be determined by how Redditch United fare in their play-off at Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday.

Victory for Rod Brown's side is likely to earn them a place in the northern section at the expense of City.

Barton believes a berth in the south will bring added financial burden to the club.
