Evesham Utd U-13 13,

Moretonville Kestrels 0

UNITED all but mathematically secured their place in the Witney league Supplementary Cup semi-final after an emphatic display against their Division C opponents.

With the Robins already 5-0 up at half-time and David Huggins marshalling the defence to avert any fightback, they dominated the second half and maintained their record of maximum points with one game left to play.

The scorers included Dean Elsmore and Michael Carter (2), who terrorised the Buckinghamshire side's defence all afternoon.

Further goals came from Rob Andrew (3), two each for Tom Adam Miles, Dan Trotman and Adam Styles and one from captain Jon Wein.

UNITED completed their preparation for Sunday's Mercian League Cup Final with a hard fought victory over their club colleagues.

The Robins looked more in control in the opening period, but it took a very special goal to open the scoring as Henry Woods headed in Sam Ford's cross at the far post.

The provider then doubled the lead when he chipped the keeper from the edge of the box.

The Robins were making a real fight of it with Elliot Grady looking dangerous in midfield and he was the architect of his side's reply with a threaded pass to Josh Downey who fired the ball into the corner.

James Bearcroft and Owen Jones were fully tested by the Robins' attack and midfield as they pressed to level the score.

At the other end, the Robins' defence of Bryn Tomes, Scott Andrew and James Coldrick were having to deal with a lively United attack.

Dan Francis, playing against his old teammates, drilled in a third goal with a wicked drive that eluded the athletic Tom Bennett.

The fourth came following some fine passing between Tom Evans, Louis Brown and Ford, before being finished off by Woods, who then completed his hat-trick to seal the win.

Hadley Rgrs 3, Evesham Utd U-10 3

A HIGHLY competitive friendly saw Evesham maintain their unbeaten record.

James Bearcroft opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a handball but Hadley got back on level terms following a break when keeper Leon Ballard was left helpless.

Bearcroft put his side ahead again after a through pass from Louis Brown and then completed his hat-trick after good approach work from Craig Whiting and Tom Evans.

Hadley, though, were let back into the match due to two defensive lapses before Bearcroft almost had the final say when a blistering his shot was well saved.

Littleton Jnrs U-13 2,

Newtown Colts 2

THIS top of the table clash ended with honours even and the league unlikely to be decided until the last game of the season.

Littleton started brightly and soon took the lead when Matt Taylor, Ryan Clarke and Steve Edghill unlocked the Newtown defence for Lance Smith to guide the ball in off a post.

Colts fought back and soon found an equaliser when Littleton found themselves outnumbered at the back and smart inter-play saw Tom Hale thump the ball into the net.

Newtown then dominated the game and had a goal ruled out for offside before poor defending allowed Hale a second goal.

The second half saw a more determined Littleton take the game to their opponents and Matt Smith, Matt Goss and Jack Proctor were inches away from getting an equaliser.

A rare Newtown break saw Steve Powell produce a brave save at the feet of a striker, before Littleton grabbed the equaliser when Dan Keen's inch-perfect pass found Lance Smith who outpaced the defence to hammer the ball past the goalkeeper to earn a share of the points.

Evesham Utd 4,

UNITED'S last home match of the season produced a resounding win.

Olly Davies scored the first with a great lob before Olly Scarrott doubled the lead following a great move.

Blues pulled one back but Karl Myers made it 3-1 after a pass from Gilbert. Scarrott's second rounded off a great team performance.

Peopleton U-15 1,

Malvern Tn Wdrs 0

IT'S now 23 matches since Peopleton tasted defeat but they were made to work hard in their latest outing.

Both teams attacked strongly in the early stages and Will George was unlucky not to give the hosts the lead when his shot hit the frame of the goal and bounced down the wrong side of the goalline.

The deadlock was finally broken after half-an-hour when James Allen outsprinted the defence to meet Alex Spencer's inch-perfect centre.

Wanderers were on the offensive for the majority of the second period but couldn't break down the defence with the best defensive record in the league.

Andrews, Bulford, Kings and McBennett showed their resilience and the only real moment of panic came when a shot from distance hit the crossbar.

Newtown Spts Jnrs 1,

Evesham Utd Robins U-12 1

AN ENTERTAINING game saw the Robins enjoy most of the play but they had to settle for a point.

The action was fast and furious throughout and it was to the credit of both sides that a high standard of football was maintained.

Sports started brightly, but, United eased their way into the game as player of the match Dan Coupe began to call the tune in midfield.

Jamie Wallace looked dangerous up front, but it was David Stannier who fired home from the edge of the box to give his side the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Newtown's reply was swift as a long through ball, immediately after the break, found an unmarked forward who levelled the scores.

The goal inspired the visitors into a period of total domination. Lee Thomas saw his effort, from one of many corners, scrape the crossbar and the same player was again denied by the woodwork as the pressure failed to bring a winner.
