A FILM showing the trials and tribulations of a Worcestershire single mum's quest to find the man of her dreams is to be screened on the television.

Nicky Taylor is a woman with a good career, her own home and three loving children but, despite apparently having it all, her friends think she is missing one essential - "a nice man."

Finding the perfect partner is not so easy though, as Ms Taylor's film, Billboard Love, to be aired on Tuesday as part of BBC1's One Life season, sets out to prove.

"Of course I'd love to meet someone special but, like most working mothers, I don't usually have the time to meet men, which is why I agreed to make a film about what it's like to be single," she said.

"As a single mother-of-three I don't have time to pick up a magazine, let alone pick up a man!"

The film reveals a two-month video diary of 38-year-old Ms Taylor, of Kidderminster, and her 62-year-old mum Judith's exploits on the 21st Century dating scene.

It includes internet dating, speed dating, blind dates and even billboard advertisements - hence the name of the film.

Ms Taylor, who separated from her husband in 2002, adopted the nickname Trix when one agency approached her to feature her on giant billboards across Birmingham, advertising six single men and women last December.

However, despite her efforts, some of her dates have turned out to be several degrees cooler than hot.

One even told her he could not stand children, despite knowing she was a mum to Freya, aged five, Milly, four, and Harry, two.

Another insisted Ms Taylor, a freelance film-maker, foot the £90 bill for an expensive dinner in London.

She did meet one man of interest, a sewage farmer from Reading, in Berkshire, but he lived too far away to sustain a relationship.

Her mother, on the other hand, has scored more success in the dating game and met a love interest who lives in the South of France and is planning to visit him again soon.

But Ms Taylor is confident she knows what she wants and one day will meet her ideal match.

"If you're really serious about finding a partner you have to be really pragmatic," she said.

"I mean, it's a bit like having IVF treatment.

"Essentially it's quite a scientific process but, if you get a good result, you end up with a little bundle of love."
