REGENERATION of Worcester's largest "brownfield" site has moved a step closer.

The city council has agreed to adopt a development brief for the Tolladine goods yard as guidance for developers.

The 23-acre site, the biggest derelict area in the city, has been largely unused for around 20 years.

The council wants offices, factories and warehouses to be built on the yard and asked local residents their views during a consultation exercise.

Around 90 people attended an exhibition at Tolldaine Community Centre in February, and 66 official responses from residents have been fed into the brief.

Planning officer Paul O'Connor said lack of feedback probably reflects agreement with the plans.

"If it is broadly what people are seeking, you often find you get a low response rate and that could be the case here," he said, at a planning committee meeting.
