WORCESTER Black Pear, the Lowesmoor-based savings and loans co-operative, has appointed a new general manager.
Ivan Smith, aged 65, has had 30 years experience in business, primarily in finance, which includes running a group of Midlands-based firms.
"There is a tremendous potential for Worcester Black Pear to attract many more local people into the membership," said Mr Smith, who lives in the Arboretum.
"I intend to use my marketing skills to convince people that it makes good sense to save with us because we give all the profit back to our savers."
City councillor Paul Denham, who is also chairman of Worcester Black Pear, said he was delighted to welcome Mr Smith to the job.
"His considerable knowledge of credit management will help us provide improved services to more local people, while maintaining our highly respected friendly, ethical and professional status," he said.
