JIM Lewis has offered to bring the Gold Cup to Sixways as a joint celebration if Best Mate makes it a hat-trick tomorrow.

The Callow End owner of the nine-year-old, who is favourite to romp home tomorrow for his third successive Gold Cup win at Cheltenham, has kept a close eye on Worcester Rugby Club and admitted he would love to be part of a possible promotion party on April 3.

Worcester play host to Bristol on that day and victory, if the Warriors beat Exeter on Saturday, will seal promotion to the Premiership for the National One outfit. Lewis looks set for his own personal glory tomorrow and, if all goes well, is eyeing a double celebration at Sixways.

"I'm originally a football man with Aston Villa, but I've been watching what's been going on at Worcester this season," said Lewis.

"It would give me the greatest pleasure to bring the Gold Cup to Sixways! I'll happily run it around the ground if we can both pull off wins!

"Wouldn't it be great? Two winners in the same season has to be celebrated so I'd be delighted to come to Worcester."

Meanwhile, former Worcester fly -half Tim Walsh has left Leeds Tykes to return to Australia. Walsh, who moved to the Yorkshire club in the summer, is to link up with Super 12 outfit Queensland Reds.

"Tim has been a great person to have at the club this year however his opportunities have been limited and the chance to return to Australia and play Super 12 was too good for him to miss," said Leeds' director of rugby Phil Davies.

Walsh made just four starts in the Zurich Premiership this season with a further five appearances coming from the bench. However, he was delighted at the move.

"It's a dream come true for me and I have had very little sleep over the last few nights," he said.
