LIKE a good wine, these guys just get better with time!

The 25-14 win at Exeter was a stunning performance from the boys and, with me watching from the stands, you really could appreciate just how good the level of performance was.

To say playing against Exeter, on their own turf in conditions more akin to a wind tunnel, was difficult is the understatement of the year!

The gale blowing around the County Ground was incredible on Saturday and had a big bearing on the way the match was played.

What I liked, though, was the maturity shown by the players. They adapted to the conditions and played a very controlled game which was physically very demanding against such a big pack. Exeter pride themselves on their forwards and they gave us a real test.

However, I thought we matched them and when I saw Tony Windo and Neil Lyman performing to such a high standard, then I knew we would be OK. They are just terrific players and more than anybody, those two deserve to taste success with Worcester because they have put so much into the club.

We went 7-3 down midway through the half but I never sensed any panic from the players and they dominated possession throughout the rest of the period. Lineout work is so difficult in those conditions but we won 10 out of 13 which is a great success rate considering the opposition and the weather.

In the end, we went into the break 11-7 ahead and it was a great moment when Chris Garrard touched down because I think everyone realised it was a significant score. Ben Daly's score straight after the break pretty much wrapped things up for us although we had to be on our guard late on as Exeter rallied. To see someone like Christian Evans playing to his usual consistency is just phenomenal. The guy just gives everything he's got for 80 minutes every week and it's a privilege to be on the same side as him, even though I'm not playing at present!

It's the same old story for me. I'm seeing a neurologist this week to try and get to the bottom of my headaches which I'm still having. It's obviously frustrating for me but it makes it easier in a way that Worcester have won 23 from 23 and are record breakers!

Those 23 wins are really a vindication of all the hard work of everyone at the club. There's always a team behind a team and the likes of Cecil Duckworth, John Brain, Andy Keast, Phil Richards and Clare Woodward have been absolutely magnificent this season because it takes a lot to come back from the disappointment of last year.

What I'm delighted about is that the club are thinking continuity as they prepare for the Premiership.

Both the coaches have signed their contracts and I think it sends out a clear signal that Worcester want to be professional about their future.

They want to make a go of the Premiership, not just win promotion to come straight down again. Certainly, it would have been an absolute disaster to appoint new coaches because these two are top drawer in what they do for players.

I read with some interest the goings on between Scotland and Ben Hinshelwood in the Evening News last week. I find it incredible that the team who will win the Wooden Spoon on Saturday can dispense with the services of such a talented guy when they've got little else in their midfield.

Firstly they can't pick him at centre, then they drop him as full back and, to top it all, they leave him out of the 22 and deny Worcester his services. Absolutely astonishing! The disappointing aspect of all of this is that, while the relationship between club and country seems to get worse, Ben is caught up in the middle and all he wants to do is play rugby! It's always the way, though, politics and sport - they shouldn't be mixed. I can tell you that from experience!
