DIRECTOR of football Jan Molby is hoping history will repeat itself when improving Kidderminster Harriers take on Torquay United in a Nationwide League Division Three clash at Aggborough tomorrow.

Harriers have never lost a league match against The Gulls and will be aiming to maintain their record in a bid to move further away from the relegation zone.

The sides have faced each other on six occasions with Torquay yet to score at Aggborough, suffering a 2-0 defeat in 2000, a 1-0 reversal in 2001 and a 2-0 setback last season.

But Molby is taking nothing for granted and has warned his players that they are in for a difficult match against Torquay who are in the top half of the table.

The former Liverpool star said: "They will be tough. They are a good footballing side and they had an excellent 3-1 win at home to Cheltenham last Saturday.

"They are free-scoring and in David Graham they have as good a front man as you will see in the Third Division.

"Technically they are very good, but we are improving although the last time one of the better teams came to Aggborough, Doncaster Rovers, we didn't produce and didn't compete with them.

"I hope we have improved sufficiently so we can compete tomorrow.

"The gap between us and the relegation zone is now four points which means if we were to lose a game, which we will, we are not going to drop back into the bottom two.

"But we need to improve and need some points so we can move away as quickly as we can."

Molby, whose side has lost just once in their last six outings, added: "In training we have just upped the tempo on everything and it's worked so far. I feel we are getting the maximum out of the squad.

"The most important thing is that we are picking up points and we are an improving side. The confidence is slowly coming back."

Harriers have extended full-back Steve Burton's loan for a further month from Hull City.

Molby said of the 21-year-old: "Steve's done well. He brings some calmness to our build up play, especially in the second-half against Rochdale last week when he put in five or six really good crosses from open play.

"He needs a bit of work on his defensive play but he's still young and will improve. The lads like playing with and I have been very impressed with him."

Harriers have no new injury problems following last Saturday's 1-0 win at Rochdale when Bo Henriksen continued on the comeback trail with a second half substitute appearance.

The Danish striker has scored in Harriers' last three matches against Torquay who this week signed former Harriers trialist Narada Bernard. He was not taken on by ex-Aggborough boss Ian Britton after playing in a number of pre-season friendlies.

FORMCAST: Harriers to win 2-1.
