BOSS Jan Molby believes Adam Murray is just 'scratching the surface' of what he will be capable of in the future for Kidderminster Harriers.

Midfielder Murray has battled back from having his career put on hold due to alcohol-related problems and is starting to make his mark at Aggborough after recently signing an 18-month contract.

The former Derby County camp-aigner produced an eye-catching performance last Saturday when he opened his goals account for Harriers in a 1-1 Nationwide League Division Three draw at home to Darlington.

The 22 year-old's shoot-on-sight policy pleased the Aggborough faithful as well as Molby who commented: "I have said to him 'I want more shots'."

He added: "With all our midfield players and strikers the first thing when they get within 25 yards of goal is to look for another pass. It's never to look for shots.

"You look at Dean Bennett breaking from mid-field and when he gets to within 20 to 25 yards he's looking for another pass. Danny Williams doesn't shoot enough from distance. He's got a great strike in both feet but he doesn't go for enough of them. But Murray does luckily.

"I told him before last Saturday's game that I want him to shoot on sight. He did and I think on another day he could have scored more than one. But I think he's only scratching the surface because it's going to take eight to ten games for him to get used to playing again.

"The problems he's had have obviously been there a lot longer than what was recognised and I think possibly over a period of two years that has stopped him developing. "
