KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' director of football Jan Molby has issued a rallying call as his side head for a crucial stage in their Nationwide League Division Three relegation battle.

Harriers' hopes of avoiding the dreaded drop were boosted by a 2-1 home win over Northampton Town on Tuesday, but the former Liverpool star knows the fight is far from over.

He said: "There is no quick fix to the situation we find ourselves in.

"This is going to be very much a team effort from here to the end of the season. Everyone has to do their bit, from the management through to the players and, just as importantly, the fans."

Kidderminster moved six points clear of the relegation area following their victory over Northampton this week which came in the wake of a 5-0 battering at promotion-chasing Doncaster Rovers.

The heavy defeat at Belle Vue touched a raw nerve with the players who held a 'clear the air' meeting after the match.

The benefit was highlighted in Tuesday's performance against Northampton with Molby hoping his troops will produce at a similar display in this afternoon's home clash with York.

Midfielder Sean Parrish believes Harriers would reap greater rewards if they to dropped their 'nicey, nicey' approach to each other during matches.

He said: "Every decent side have players who'll get their hands dirty and do the simple but nasty jobs and players who aren't afraid to give their team-mates a piece of their mind when the occasion arises. Maybe we've been too 'nicey, nicey'.

"We all get on very well off the pitch but we probably have to be more ruthless with one another on it."
