DAVE Busst will be desperately disappointed if his Evesham United side fails to bring back anything from Saturday's visit to Taunton Town, writes Mervyn Collins.

After seeing his side meekly surrender their unbeaten record last weekend, the Common Road chief is ready to act if they draw another blank against a team heading perilously close to the lower reaches of the table.

"Gresley weren't any better than the teams we have beaten this year and I saw things in the display that I hadn't seen for a couple of months," the manager admitted.

"It's unusual for ten players to have an off day all at once but that's what happened. We missed our two leaders on the park, there was no one there to knock the players out of their shell.

"I'm hoping it was a one off and I can't complain really after putting such a good run together."

The influential Sean Flynn will assume his crucial midfield role in Somerset but skipper Lee Knight will sit out the second of a four-match absence.

"Looking at the fixture list, February was a month when I was hoping to pick up four wins that would set us up for a tough March and the run-in to the end of the season," the United boss admitted.

"That's obviously not going to be the case now but I know that we are capable of winning the next three.

"Players will get the chance this month to stake a claim for a place and it's up to them to take it otherwise I will start looking elsewhere."

Busst has been busy scouring the goalkeeping market this week with Tim Clarke struggling with a thigh injury he picked up at Gresley.

The United chief will check on his experienced custodian at training tonight but he has signed Racing Club Warwick's Lee Wilson as cover.

Steven Hands came through last weekend's test with no ill-effects, but Busst admitted that Linton Bailey is some way off making a comeback after a knee problem.
