RONNIE Sayer capped an outstanding display by grabbing Stourport Swifts' winner in their 2-1 defeat of Mangotsfield United at Walshes Meadow.

The midfielder unleashed a powerful 25-yard drive that flew into the roof of the net nine minutes from time as Swifts overhauled a half-time deficit in the Dr Martens Western Division.

Fit-again Robbie Taylor slotted in alongside Andy Wright in attack but it was Sayer and his midfield partner Craig Webb who stole the show as they repeatedly carved open the visitors after the break.

Wright and Nathan Jukes could have added to the scoreline as Swifts continued to pile forward with the dependable Dave Davies ensuring everything remained ship-shape at the back.

And yet it looked like being another dismal evening for Dave Titterton's side when the West Country visitors took the lead on 15 minutes.

David Seal scored from the penalty spot following a foul on Jack Pitcher.

Mangotsfield continued to hold the upper hand with Jay Powell clearing an Adam Sims effort off the line, while Seal headed over and fired another straight at keeper Lee Evans.

But Stourport lifted their game for the second half with Wright pushing a shot wide with just the keeper to beat less than a minute after the restart.

Mark Jones finally grabbed an equaliser on 63 minutes with a curling free-kick into the roof of the net before Nathan Jukes saw his shot brilliantly saved by visiting keeper Danny Greaves.

Sayer's 81st minute screamer was just reward for a man-of-the-match display and there was even time for Wright to have another chance saved by the feet of Greaves.
