I HAVE supported Kidderminster Harriers Football Club for over 30 years and I am astounded to read in the Shuttle/Times & News on May 22 that Peter Picken has resigned because the club would not discuss his concerns on safety issues, which is a most serious matter.

Obviously the report did not state what actually happened, but it would appear that the physio, Jim Conway, can run the safety and security at Aggborough better than the greatly respected retired chief superintendent - who, incidentally, worked for the Harriers free of charge.

How can our cash-strapped club let such a loyal and voluntary person go without fighting to keep him at Aggborough?

Can we expect other voluntary or lowly paid staff to leave out of frustration or despair?

Come on Harriers, with your know-how, stick to football for which we have supported you over the years.

Don't end your association with these skilled people, who have brought great credit and acclaim to the club before a ball has been kicked next season.
