GEORGE Davis is already eyeing a return to Sixways after signing for Exeter Chiefs.

The prop, who was released by Worcester Rugby Club earlier in the summer, signed for the County Ground side this week on a one-year deal.

However, the former Bristol man is looking forward to proving a few points on his return to Sixways on November 22.

"It would be very nice to come back and prove a point or two," he said.

"I had very limited opportunities at Worcester and to be honest I didn't know what I was going to do when I left.

"Ian Bremner, though, invited me down for a trial and then offered me a contract this week. I was delighted because this is one of the best clubs in National One with a lot of ambition."

Davis joins former Sixways stars Alistair Murdoch, Dave Sims and Tony Yapp at Exeter and he admitted that it was nice to see a few friendly faces.

"It's always nice," he said. "It does help when there are people at the club who you know. I'm sure they will help me settle in."

Davis is one of a number of released Worcester players who will be focused on upsetting the Sixways title charge this season. Birmingham & Solihull snapped up Craig Chalmers, Jim Jenner and Tom Richardson to go with the other former Worcester man Nathan Carter and Nick Baxter.

Meanwhile, Worcester's director of rugby John Brain has praised Worcester's squad for their effort in their first month back in pre-season training.

"I think they all deserve a pat on the back to be honest," he said. "The effort they've put into the training has been very encouraging and they seem to be really thriving on the new regime under Phil Richards."
