ANOTHER experienced forward was due to join Kidderminster Harriers' army of trialists today in the form of Kyle Lightbourne.

The 34-year-old, who scored 13 goals for Macclesfield last season, joins fellow veteran front man John Williams in trying to impress boss Ian Britton.

Lightbourne, a strong 6ft 2ins player with a thumping shot, is looking for a club closer to his Coventry home after leaving Harriers' Division Three rivals.

Like Williams, he spent time with Coventry during their Premiership days after moving for a £500,000 fee but is better known for his goals at Walsall and Stoke in the 1990s, mainly in Division Two.

The Bermuda international has scored 105 goals in around 387 Football League games.

Lightbourne will join another ex-Coventry player, fellow free agent Adam Willis, in the squad to visit Midland Alliance Boldmere on Saturday (3pm).

Centre-back Willis, 26, played against Harriers last season in the LDV Trophy for Swindon where he made more than 100 appearances over five seasons before his release this summer.

Britton said: "I've watched Adam two or three times now and from what I have seen he looks to be a good player.

"We'll have a closer look at him in training to see how he does and we'll take it from there."

Britton, meanwhile, is hoping to sign two un-named players by the end of this week with defence and attack the priority areas.

Former Sheffield United reserve defender Kevin Murphy has left Harriers after figuring in their weekend pre-season friendlies.

The remaining trialists have all earned another week with Britton set to cut down the numbers after the Boldmere game.

Matt Lewis, Williams, Eliot Paschalis and Graham Ward were all on target as Britton's men won 3-1 at non-league Evesham United and 1-0 at Stratford Town.

Last season's top scorer Bo Henriksen (Achilles) and Lee Ayres (ankle) could be missing again on Saturday after picking up pre-season knocks.

Left-back Scott Stamps (groin) has also needed treatment for an injury.

Harriers are looking forward to their first high-profile friendly against Premiership Leicester City on Monday at Aggborough (7.45pm).

Leicester are expected to bring a large squad that will include big names like Les Ferdinand, Keith Gillespie, Muzzy Izzet and keeper Ian Walker who have all played international football.

Fans will pay on the gate but are asked to arrive early as a sizeable crowd is expected.
