IT'S fair to say funnyman Peter Kay and his hilarious pal Dave Spikey have created a timeless masterpiece in Phoenix Nights - and the second series provided me with a laugh a minute.

The simple yet hilarious brand of humour surrounds wheelchair-bound penny-pincher Brian Potter's world famous Phoenix Club and the second series charts it's literal rise from the ashes after being set alight by rival club lord Den Perry.

Highlights of the DVD series - which are too numerous to mention - include Brian getting stuck on his stair lift and the Phoenix Club's version of Stars In Their Eyes - which features Brian's mismatched gaggle of staff performing hits by the likes of Tina Turner and Gary Glitter. BH
