GEORGE Rooney is tipping Paul Wyatt (pictured) to develop into an "exceptional goalkeeper".
The Bromsgrove Rovers boss is standing by his top choice stopper, blamed for a number of goals conceded this season, including two against Wolves last week.
But Wyatt, aged 22, did save a penalty in the 5-1 victory over Shepshed last Saturday despite the rebound being slotted home.
Rooney said: "I have got no problems with his basic goalkeeping. At this level there are not many people who take the amount of crosses and saves he makes.
"I am certainly not panicking over it and I believe he will grow into an exceptional goalkeeper. This is his first full season in senior football. Goalkeepers don't reach their prime until they are 27 or 28 and Paul comes to us with enormous potential and that's why we signed him."
Rovers travel to Gloucester City this Saturday with Sam Bowen the only injury worry after picking up a knock against Shepshed.
