HOPES are high summer recruit Matt Gadsby could return from injury for Kidderminster Harriers' first away game at Darlington.

The former Walsall and Mansfield defender - Ian Britton's only signing of the summer so far- tweaked his knee ligaments in a friendly at Boldmere earlier this month and it was thought he could be out for up to five weeks.

But Britton - who is today finalising a decision on which of his trialists he will be offering contracts to - is optimistic he should only miss the season's curtain-raiser with Mansfield at Aggborough on August 9.

And the boss is hopeful of a transfer breakthrough "sooner rather than later" on a couple of deals he hopes to push through as the season looms large, with forwards top of the agenda.

But two players who do not figure in his plans are trialists Narada and Craig Wilding, who have been released after figuring in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

Narada's agent Saif Rubie said the left-sided midfielder loved the club and the fans and was hopeful of still securing a deal, but Britton said it was not on the cards "at the moment".

"I can't take everybody and I've got to do what I think is right," he added.
