BROMSGROVE Rovers have seen two strikers leave the Victoria Ground inside a week following the departures of Sam Bowen and Michael Swan.

Bowen, who has had spells with Forest Green and Westfields already this season, left for Dr Martens Premier side Newport County earlier this week following an "offer he could not refuse", while Swan has joined Solihull Borough.

Between them, the pair managed just two goals, both Bowen's. Swan did not manage a first team goal in his three-month spell at Rovers and only made ten appearances for George Rooney's side - five as a substitute - since joining from Hednesford in October.

But, on the same day as Swan left, the manager managed to secure the services of 20-year-old Romi Cammock, from Bedworth United.

The transfers went through within days of each other and, including Cammock, leaves Rooney with four strikers along with Paul Szewczyk, Peter Sutton and Mark Atkinson.

"Things were not happening for him (Swan)," Rooney explained. "He came to us with quite a poor level of fitness and we were never able to get him in a position where he could have a run of games. We thought it might be best to allow him to move on.

"We put that all through and we got a phone call on Friday from Newport regarding Sam Bowen. We certainly could not match what he was offered and it was an offer he could not refuse."

Cammock has had spells with Halesowen Town, Sutton Coldfield Town and Atherstone United, as well as Midland Alliance outfit Alvechurch and Midland Combination premier division side Continental Star.

Rooney, who's side face Bedworth United this Saturday and Team Bath next Tuesday, added: "Because of our budget restrictions we have got to have a look at boys like this, getting players from Redditch and Halesowen is out of the question."
