WORCESTER Rugby Club have made a dramatic double swoop to sign Wes Davies and Jon Hylton.

The two backs have been brought in to add more depth to the Sixways squad following another setback for Nnamdi Ezulike.

The former London Irish wing looks set to be out of action for another six months after it was revealed he needs yet more surgery to his knee.

Davies scored 16 National One tries last season for Orrell and impressed Warriors' director of rugby John Brain in the Warriors' February clash at Edge Hall Lane.

He has been playing on a week-to-week contract for Rugby League side Salford City Reds after leaving Orrell at the end of the season.

With the former Wigan man's ability to play across the back line, the 25-year-old will be a vital figure while Ben Hinshelwood is away on Scotland World Cup duty.

Former Wasps wing Hylton enjoyed a successful trial period at Worcester during the pre-season and scored a hat trick of tries against Stourbridge in August. The 22-year-old comes in because of Ezulike's injury and will back up Chris Garrard and Daren O'Leary.

"We're delighted to bring in two quality players until the end of the season," said Brain. "We were obviously conscious of the need for more depth and we believe we've brought in players who will be pushing for starting places.

"Wes scored 18 tries in 19 games for Orrell last season in all competitions. We understand that Orrell wanted to keep him at the end of the season but there were one or two political factors which got in the way of that.

"He was very impressive at centre last season and we know he's an experienced, quality player who can play in a number of positions.

"We're also very confident that Jon Hylton will push the other players at the club," said Brain.

"We let Jon go early after four weeks of his trial because we'd seen enough. With Nnamdi now out of action for a lengthy period, it was important that we strengthened the squad."

On a busy day of ins and outs at Sixways, prop Adrian Olver has made the move to Gloucester on a two-month loan deal.

The former Premiership forward has been frustrated at his lack of first team opportunities and jumped at the chance to move to Kings-holm.

Worcester, however, can recall him at five-day's notice if they suffer injuries to either Tony Windo, Neil Lyman, Lee Fortey or Tom Warren.
