MIDFIELD favourite Danny Williams is urging Kidderminster Harriers to rediscover their traditional passing game for the campaign's toughest test yet.

Harriers tackle one of the early-season pace-setters, Oxford United, at Aggborough on Saturday after tripping up in their last two Division Three fixtures.

Their 100 per cent start was wrecked by Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Bury and a lead was dropped in the 2-1 loss at rivals Cheltenham on Monday.

It is no coincidence Harriers have been guilty of playing too much "hit and hope" football over the Bank Holiday, according to Williams.

The 24-year-old has rifled home two superb free-kicks this season but Ian Britton's team have not scored from open play inside the penalty area.

Williams defended boss Britton and admitted Harriers need to play more as a team, rather than as individuals.

He said: "Oxford will be like Cheltenham, a physically strong side. We have to start getting the ball down and playing to our strengths.

"In the four league games we've played so far we haven't played anywhere near as well as we can do.

"It's not about the manager carrying the can. It's not up to him, it's up to us, the players that are out there. He wants us to get the ball down, we're a passing team and he's emphasised that a few times.

"It's not his fault we end up playing like Cheltenham, hitting long balls and trying to get knock-downs. The amount of times we gave the ball away was frightening.

"We don't seem to have any urgency about our play at the moment. We have to sharpen up and be alive around the box to give Bo Henriksen and Andy Bishop some chances.

"As a team, we're not clicking. We're all good players but we're not a good team. We don't stick together and help each other out as we should.

"But we have to start doing that if we want to reach the play-offs and make a higher division. We need to play as a team and not as individuals."

Britton is likely to make changes for Saturday, especially with defender Scott Stamps (ankle) doubtful.

The players have trained every day since the Cheltenham game and watched a video nasty of Monday's defeat.

Bo Henriksen (calf) and Dean Bennett (hamstring) have missed training but should still be available for the Oxford game.

Harriers are yet to suffer three league defeats in a row under Britton who is already losing patience with some of his players.
