MATT Gadsby stands by to fill the boots of suspended summer signing Adam Willis who has made a big impact at Aggborough.

Centre-half Willis, serving a one-game ban for his red card at Cheltenham, has improved Kidderminster Harriers' back line and also filled in as captain.

Ian Britton admitted his absence will be felt at Macclesfield in Saturday's Division Three encounter, though he will also be concerned about a lack of goals scored from open play.

Harriers manager declared: "Adam has made a difference to us. He's got that little bit of experience and you can tell he's played at a higher level."

The rangy Gadsby, a close-season addition from Mansfield, is working his way back to full fitness after a first start in the weekend's 1-0 loss at Bristol Rovers.

Gadsby, who played in midfield at Rovers, figured at centre-back in pre-season before picking up a knee injury and he is likely to return there at Moss Rose.

The 24-year-old admitted: "If anything, playing in midfield helped me with my fitness as there is a lot more running around to be done than in defence.

"Hopefully, I can stay injury free from now on and build on my fitness. We have to go into every game positively.

"I'm ready for selection on Saturday and will play anywhere the manager wants me."

Harriers have taken stick from fans and boss Britton for abandoning their passing game and Gadsby still feels that is a problem.

He stressed: "We've got to settle down on the ball and not lump it forward, especially when you play one up front.

"We're a passing team but we have tended to play the way the opposition have played and that's not our strength."

Harriers now have three loan signings and all should be available to face Macclesfield.

Forward Andy Bishop has extended his temporary spell for a second month and former England U-20s midfielder Adam Murray is set to return after being ill for the Bristol trip.

The newest face is left winger Lloyd Dyer who agreed to a one-month move from West Brom in time for a tough weekend debut.

Leaving Aggborough on loan is young forward Matt Lewis and he bagged two goals for Dr Martens League Premier Division Hinckley United in a 2-0 win at Eastbourne.

Britton turned down a move from Redditch to take defender Lee Ayres, yet to figure this season, on a similar basis.

Harriers entertain Scunthorpe in the league on Tuesday (7.45pm) but the proposed new floodlights will not be ready.

Paperwork is still to be completed over funding for the £50,000 plan to improve the lights.

Harriers won 3-1 in a friendly at Evesham on Wednesday with goals from Bishop, Bo Henriksen and Sean Parrish.
