ANGRY residents have slammed council chiefs after leaflets advertising a new rubbish collection day for about 800 houses were not delivered.

Wyre Forest District Council apologised for the confusion - which saw wheelie bins left unemptied for days - and blamed temporary staff for not delivering all the leaflets.

"For the last 20 years we've put our bins out on a Wednesday but they didn't get emptied last week - you've got the whole road full of bins," said Charles Dudley of Kidderminster Road, Bewdley.

"I phoned (the district council) up and they said you should have put them out on Tuesday."

And John Gibbins, 70, of Pullman Close in Stourport said: "It's about time the (district council) got their act together - they're quick enough getting council tax off us."

The district council's commercial manager Andrew Dickens said only a small proportion of the 43,000 homes targeted had not received leaflets and most people were now aware of the correct day.
