COMEDIAN and entertainer Ken Dodd returns to Malvern Theatres for two nights during April.
'Doddy' will be on stage on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 6 and 7, for what could well be marathon performances. His last appearance in Malvern ended well after midnight.
Born in 1927, Ken set his heart on showbiz aged seven when he replied to a feature in a comic book advertising ventriloquism lessons. It was another 20 years before he got his big break, a date at the Nottingham Playhouse.
From that his career grew and he has since enjoyed the longest run of anything ever at the London Palladium, as well as an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the world's longest joke telling session, some 1,500 jokes in three hours.
A singing career saw success with his first single Happiness in 1964 and his biggest hit Tears a year later, which sold over two million copies. Tickets for his show at Malvern are £17, available from the box office on 01684 892277.
