A TEAM of cheerleaders from Hanley Castle High School is appealing for sponsorship so they can shake their pom-poms in style.

Led by 15-year-olds Emma Low and Klaire Dawson, the nine-strong squad practice every week at the school gym in preparation for performances at sports events and fetes.

After forming in September last year, the girls have worked hard to get their moves up to scratch and now hope to raise the money to buy uniforms to add the finishing touch.

Emma said: "We've seen some on the internet. There's a small black and red pleated skirt with a matching cross-over top. It's really cool."

The team have yet to decide on a name, but once the decision has been made, they hope to have it embroidered on the tops.

The total cost of the uniforms is expected to be around £225.
