DESPITE a snowy evening there was a full attendance at Upleadon Parish Council. The clerk was asked to write to the county surveyor in respect of road gritting in inclement weather. The annual meeting of the council will be at the Village Hall on Thursday, May 13, at 7.30pm.
The Mothering Sunday service at St Mary the Virgin Church, Upleadon on Sunday, March 21, was well attended. The service was a Lent communion with special emphasis on Mothers. There were a good number of children present and they all took part in the intercessions. The service was led by the rector, The Rev. Patricia Phillips, assisted by Mrs Jessie Williams. Mr Bert Vye was at the church organ. Bible readings were by Mrs Pat Smith and Mrs Christine Draper. The sidesman was Mr Gerald Draper. Delightful posies of spring flowers were presented to the mothers in the congregation. There will be no service at Upleadon Church on Sunday, March 28.
The next meeting of the Upleadon Over 60s Club will take place at the village hall on Tuesday, April 6, at 2.30pm.
The annual parish meeting and the annual parochial church meeting for Upleadon Church will be held on Tuesday, March 30, at Upleadon Village Hall at 7.30pm.
