The new leader of Redmarley Women's Fellowship, Muriel Houldey, welcomed John Wildsmith of The Little Bird Table Company, who gave a most interesting talk.

As a small boy he was always fascinated by wood and spent hours carving. With his wife and family he moved to Colwall and in his garage created the new venture of making bird tables and nest boxes. Local agricultural shows brought in many orders. The next move enabled John and his family to make their home in Bromsberrow. With larger premises the Bird Table Company grew and grew.

Amy, his daughter, proudly presented the smaller bird boxes to members for inspection and it was interesting to appreciate the design used on the boxes with holly, ivy and the brilliant colours of red, blue, yellow and green which have proved very popular with city dwellers.

Muriel thanked Mr Wildsmith and Amy and the Fellowship were presented with a delightful birds nesting box for the raffle. Delicious refreshments were served by Mrs M Houldey and Mrs E Solesbury.

You may have noticed the cast iron milestone leaning crookedly opposite the Playely Green junction with the A417, well it is a Listed object and the parish council is arranging to have it repainted and properly set in the ground together with another Listed milestone just past the Lowbands turn if you see them being removed in the near future they are being taken for renovation.
