The Mothering Sunday service held at St Peter's Church last Sunday morning was well attended by families and children from Junior Church, 1st Powick Brownies and Cubs and Beavers from 7th Worcester Scout Group, who presented their standards (flags) during the first hymn. The younger children from the Junior Church (from St James Church) mimed the Story of Moses and Life under the Pharaoh, which was read by Lindsey Brassington. The story of Moses in the bulrushes and his relationship with his mother was read by Rosie Colton and Catherine Green. A group of six musicians played Be Still on violin (Louisa Sandy and Catherine Nichol), clarinet (Hannah Whittal-Williams and Nicola Sandy), flute (Sally Green) and piano (Thomas Nichol) to accompany the congregational singing. Ian Gane led the prayers and Lindall Brown played the organ. Special thanks to Jean Lean, Julia Sandy and Julie Brassington and helpers who made posies of spring flowers from both Powick and Callow End churches. The Brownies distributed the posies to the children to present to their mothers and pieces of Simnel cake were given to members of the congregation as they left.
