ART, do-it-yourself and computer skills were being taught to Worcestershire mentally-ill patients in a bid to help them recover from their illness.
Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, which runs the county's psychiatric hospitals, held an open day to offer mental health sufferers a stepping stone back to employment, college or other community activities.
The open day, attended by more than 60 people, was held at a special unit at Isaac Maddox House, in Shrub Hill Road, Worcester, and has been hailed a huge success.
"Having a mental health problem often leads to a major loss of confidence", said Pete Jordan, the workshop's team leader.
"Concentration can also become difficult, so even when people's mental health starts to improve, it can be difficult to start life's activities again.
"Our unit gives people the space and support to enable them to do this".
The project helps more than 100 people, one of which said: "It was Shrub Hill workshop that gave me the extra boost I will always be grateful for."
