ROYAL Mail has captured the natural beauty of Northern Ireland on its latest set of stamps being launched on the eve of St Patrick's Day.

The stamps of Northern Ireland - which has strong links with the Midlands - went on sale on March 16 and features six breathtaking landscapes of the province.

Part of a journey around the UK, which began with Scotland in July 2003, the stamp series has been designed by James Phelan who has pored over thousands of photographs in the course of the project.

The First Class stamp we features the incredible Giant's Causeway while the Second Class stamp shows Ely Island in the Lower Lough Erne, Country Fermanagh.

The E Class stamp features an unusual 437-metre high bump on the landscape - Slemish in the Antrim Mountains.

Staying in the mountains, the 42p stamp shows Banns Road in the Mourne Mountains, a former sheep drover's track still grazed by a special hardy breed of sheep called the Mourne Blackface.

Islandmore, one of the larger islands in Strangford Lough, features on the 68p stamp .
