DOUBLE celebrations are underway for members of Kidderminster Male Choir eagerly awaiting the arrival of a shiny new van paid for by National Lottery funding.from left, Gerry Bainbridge, Kidderminster War Memorial Conservation Trust chairman Ken Stokes and Malcolm Horwood at the War Memorial.

As well as scooping an Awards For All grant of £2,990, the generous singers are celebrating raising a grand total of £3,000 for charity at their Christmas carol concerts.

Singer Paul Brown said Kidderminster War Memorial Conservation Trust and Victory Outreach UK had each received £750 and the rest of the money had been placed in the choir's charitable trust to be distributed to deserving causes later in the year.

He added: "The van cost £2,990 and we were awarded the full amount, which is fabulous.

"We've been borrowing vans off members of the choir and really needed something to transport the staging around regularly so this will solve the problem for us."

He said the choir, which is celebrating its centenary this year, was expecting the van to be delivered in the next two to three weeks.
