VOLUNTEERS planted a food hedge of damson, crab apple and berries to produce food for people and wildlife in Evesham on Sunday.
They were at the Hampton Community Orchard in Peewit Road to help the Vale Landscape Heritage Trust.
Colin Grove, of Pershore Road, Evesham, who co-ordinated the project, said: "We wanted to get people out of their armchairs and get them involved in their local community by helping on a green project."
The activity was part of a four-month campaign called Environment Agency Action Earth organised by the national charity CSV and involving over 750 voluntary organisations, businesses and community groups across the country, all of whom are involved in projects that are of immediate and lasting benefit to the community.
