UNDERDOGS Stourport pulled off a shock 18-12 friendly win at higher-ranked Kings Norton with a fantastic display.
Centre Malcolm Bourne and fly-half Richard Dorrell grabbed the tries against North Midlands One opposition.
Stourport started strongly and their early pressure was rewarded with Bourne picking up at a ruck to drive over following Matt Willis' kick ahead for Adam Wyton.
The conversion was missed and Kings Norton exploited a gap 10 minutes later to take the lead with seven points.
Stourport continued to battle and were disappointed to have an Andy Hubbold try disallowed after a line-out.
Norton scored a second try against the run of play with two minutes left of the first half to lead 12-5 into the interval.
Stourport regrouped during the interval and took advantage of the wind which was behind them in the second period.
Dorrell kicked a drop goal to close the gap after Stourport won line-out ball from a rolling maul to drive into the home side's half.
The town dominated possession and territory to earn a ruck five metres from the try-line on 55 minutes.
Norton scattered their defence, leaving Dorrell to pick up and drive through the defence before converting his own try.
The frustrated home side gave away a penalty with 15 minutes left and Dorrell again kicked successfully.
Stourport have reversed the trend after two defeats in a row against higher-placed opposition and now entertain old friends Upton in a friendly.
Fixture, Saturday: Stourport 1sts v Upton (2.30pm).
