A PROJECT to improve the environment of Cleeve Prior needs the help of local people.

The Cleeve Prior Millennium Green Trust wants local people to get involved in their community and help with a project at Millennium Green.

The group will be pruning hedges and taking down temporary rabbit fences at the site in Quarry Lane on Sunday to create habitats for wildlife.

The activity is part of a four-month national campaign called Environment Agency Action Earth, which involves more than 750 voluntary groups all working to improve their environment.

Lin Warren, who is co-ordinating the Cleeve Prior project, said: "Helping out on an environmental project is a great way to learn new skills and at the same time do something really worthwhile. We are hoping to see a big turnout on the day."

Anyone interested in taking part between 10am and 2pm on Sunday should contact Lin Warren on 01789 778570.

Anyone who has any other environmental project they would like to include in the campaign should contact the Environment Agency Action Earth hotline on 0121 328 7455.
