BADSEY Flower Show is under threat and an emergency meeting has been called to discuss the future.

The show has been in existence in the Vale for nearly 120 years but this year's event scheduled for July 24 could be the last, according to show secretary Tony Fowler.

He explained: "Committee members are getting older and new blood is needed to keep the show going.

"If we do not success in achieving this, the 2004 show could be the last in its present format," Mr Fowler said.

Mr Fowler said some younger people were needed to inject new ideas, help do the necessary jobs, and provide help on the day.

The emergency general meeting is to be held at Badsey Royal British Legion next Wednesday, March 10 at 8pm, and Mr Fowler said all interested local residents were invited to attend and take part in preserving the event.

"We are trying to get people from the village to come along to the meeting to find out if they really do want the show to continue and if so if they are prepared to muck in and help," Mr Fowler said.
