A VICIOUS assault at a nightspot resulted in a Kidderminster man having part of his ear bitten off.

Gareth Kelly, 21, suffered heavy bleeding following the attack by a complete stranger at RSVP in Worcester city centre.

Mr Kelly, of St John's Avenue, Kidderminster, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital but later transferred to Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, for surgery. He will have to undergo further surgery in six months' time.

Police are now appealing for information regarding the attack, which happened on Friday, February 6 at around 10.20pm.

A second victim, who police are not identifying yet, was attacked when he went to confront the assailant.

He lost a tooth when he was knocked to the floor and kicked in the face.

As a result of his head injuries, he remembered virtually nothing of what happened.

The attacker was described as about 24 years old, six feet tall, clean-shaven, with one-inch long spiked and gelled dark-coloured hair.

He was possibly wearing a short-sleeved khaki-green T-shirt, with either a motif or writing on the front and, possibly, dark-coloured jeans.
