CYCLING: Len Holbeche was the fastest Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club rider over the club's own 10-mile time trial on the Severn Stoke course.
Holbeche battled the strong winds to power to the finish line in 25 minutes 16 seconds.
He was followed by Gary Bartram who won his group D time-related category just 24 seconds behind Holbeche.
They were among 10 Wyre Forest men taking part out of 52 competitors and Simon Middup-Jones was the first rider off.
As a result, Middup-Jones was the first to encounter the strong headwind on the long return leg to the finish.
Dave Wood was the third club rider to finish inside 26 minutes in 25-46.
Other times: John Howard 26-27, Richard Pedersen 27-50, Bill Picton 29-20, Richard Picton 29-43, Middup-Jones 29-52, Mike Nicol 31-16, Mick Gray 31-50.
The pre-race favourite, Darren Willets, riding for his new team, Lukracing.net, was the overall winner in 22-01.
