HOCKEY: Attacking Kidderminster were caught out on the break at Wednesbury in a 3-0 West Midlands League Premier Division defeat.
They played aggressively against their fifth-placed opponents but were vulnerable to counter-attacks although keeper Martin Roberts used his athleticism to save a first-half penalty flick.
Roberts' man-of-the-match display helped Kidderminster go into the interval on level terms but then they conceded a well-worked breakaway goal.
Wednesbury were awarded a disputed penalty flick which they converted for their second goal, forcing the visitors to push forward in numbers in search of an elusive consolation.
It allowed the home side to hit them on the counter-attack again and complete the scoring. The weekend weather meant Kidderminster's firsts were the only club team to play.
Fixtures, Saturday: Kidderminster 1sts v Bloxwich, Old Halesonians v 2nds, 3rds v Bloxwich, Stratford v 4ths, Old Silhillians v Ladies.
