When I became a pensioner I claimed the concessions from Wychavon, and when I learned from friends in more affluent areas that they were not available to them, I felt proud to live in Wychavon.
However, after the recent council meeting at which it was decided to withdraw concessions from the majority of senior citizens, my civic pride plummeted to zero.
I went to the Civic Centre for the recent Council Meeting and was pleased to meet former colleagues who had worked in Evesham Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB).
No doubt many of the other pensioners present had contributed their time and effort over the years to benefit the Wychavon community.
To be referred to as "rent-a-mob" by a senior Councillor who had declared an interest in the CAB just added insult to injury.
Wychavon now has bridges to build to win back the support of their senior citizens.
