WILLERSEY MUSIC: The next event in the Willersey Music calendar will be the appearance of Johnny Coppin, the international singer, songwriter, and broadcaster, at Willersey Village Hall on Friday, March 12, at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale at Willersey Stores and Post Office.

COFFEE MORNING: The recent coffee morning in aid of village hall funds raised £450. The committee thanks everyone who supported this and other fund-raising events. The main hall has now been redecorated, thus completing the improvements for the time being.

YOUTH PROJECT: A bingo session will be held at the village hall on Monday, March 29 at 7.30pm in aid of Project Fund.

CANCER RESEARCH UK: A coffee morning and bring and buy will be held at Christen Mares on Wednesday by invitation of Mr and Mrs David Hammond.

WILLERSEY FOOTLIGHTS: Rehearsals for the next show are now well in hand. The show Footlights - The Next Generation, will be presented at Willersey Village Hall on Friday and Saturday, March 26 and 27 at 7.30pm. Many new members have joined Footlights and successes seem set to continue

Tickets are on sale at Willersey Post Office.

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING: The annual parish meeting will be held at the village hall on Wednesday, March 24 at 7.30pm.

MUNCH BRUNCH: The lunches are proving popular and the next one will be on Wednesday, March 17 at the Methodist Schoolroom. Anyone wishing to attend, or who needs transport to attend, is invited to ring Elizabeth Ingles on 853400.

WEDNESDAY CLUB: At the recent meeting Mr Hugh Thompson gave a talk on The Waves Above, giving an account of his Naval career in the post-war Royal Navy Submarine Service during which he served on HMS Renown and at the Greenwich Naval College.

At the next meeting of the club members will hear a talk by John Porter on Travels down the Mekong.

PARISH WALKS: The next organised parish walk will be on Sunday, March 14, meeting at the Jubilee Tree at 2pm.

MOBILE POLICE STATION: The next visit will be next Thursday between 3.15pm and 4.15pm.

PARISH COUNCIL: The February meeting of the parish council was attended by a larger number of the public than usual. Lengthy discussions on two planning applications took place, one for a stud farm in Badsey Road and another for a detached house in Campden Lane. The parish council decided to object to the first and to ask the district council for a site meeting to consider the second.

Among the many other matters discussed was the repair work to the Timms Green/Recreation Ground footpath and the repairs to the recreation ground fencing due to begin shortly and for which a district council grant had been obtained.
