LOCAL MP Bill Wiggin has issued a warning to Worcestershire residents saying Liberal Democrats are drawing up plans to introduce new taxes to drive on roads across the county.

The proposals are exposed, he says, in a leaked copy of the Liberal Democrats' draft 'pre-manifesto' which outlines congestion charging in 'our town and city centres' as a Liberal Democrat priority.

The MP warned this week: "The cat is out of the bag and I am very concerned about these leaked proposals, which would decimate trade and local businesses across Worcestershire.

The Labour Government and Liberal Democrats fail to understand that there are not viable public transport alternatives and that extra taxes will hit the vulnerable the hardest -- such as the elderly, the poor and those in isolated rural areas.

"This is why I have pledged to oppose these new tax proposals," he said
