TWO Worcester children will have their artwork on display outside their school as part of a road safety campaign aimed at cutting motorists' speeds.

Pupils of Oldbury Park Primary School, in St John's, were asked to come up with designs warning drivers to keep their speeds below the 20mph limit along Oldbury Road.

Two winners - eight-year-old Sin Bevand and Francesca Hrizenko, aged six - will now see their posters made into signposts and put up along the route.

Eight-year-old Jake Fowler was named as third placed artist in the competition.

Mayor of Worcester Gareth Jones visited the school to present all three pupils with book tokens on Wednesday, March 3.

"Using the children's paintings in this way is a fitting device to draw drivers' attention to the need for a 20mph speed limit," said Tom Comerford, the city council's Senior Engineer in traffic management and transportation, who was also at the presentation.

"It's a splendidly graphic way to alert drivers to the reason why we need a speed limit here."
