BUDDING rugby stars at a Worcester school have received a new kit - thanks to their success in a national awards scheme.
Blessed Edward Oldcorne RC High School won £4,250 in the Awards For All programme - a Lottery-funded project to promote art, sport, education, health and community activities.
The cash was given to the PE department with coaching, improving the school pitches and girls' rugby kit among the highest priorities.
The rugby team wore their new strip for the first time during Tuesday afternoon's clash with Nunnery Wood High School, which Blessed Edward won in style.
"The games highlight the talent apparent in the school and the county," said Blessed Edward headteacher Sean Devlin.
"These bright hopefuls have inspired the game in the area and extend the challenge of playing to other schools in Worcester."
Girls' rugby is clearly on the increase at the Timberdine Avenue school as pupils represent their school all over the county.
