A BRAVE youngster has defied the doctors to walk again - thanks to chart-topping Brit band Busted.

Alex Harris as endured more pain than most people suffer in a lifetime.

The seven-year-old was born with the rare nemaline myopathy muscle deteriorating condition and a curvature in his spine.

After complications during one of the six operations he has had in the past two years, his parents were told by doctors he might never walk again.

But he became star-struck after seeing Busted on TV and immediately wanted to jump around like his heroes.

Inspired by the Brit award-winners, Alex has undergone months of painful physiotherapy and defied medical opinion by walking short distances.

And it is all down to the pop trio, said his mother Sheila.

"Every time Busted have come on the television, he's been on his feet," said the 63-year-old, of Monarch Drive, St John's, Worcester. "He has found the incentive to walk again.

"He plays air guitar and tries to jump up and down like Charlie from the band - it's such an amazing sight for me, one I thought I'd never see."

Despite Alex's years of agony living with the illness, she says he has always remained upbeat.

"He has been fantastic, he has never complained once and we're very proud of him. He must have been in agony. You could see it in his face, but he refused to moan or let it get him down."

The youngster is looking forward to seeing the band at the NEC on Wednesday, March 24.

Busted's management have promised to see if he can meet his heroes and thank them for providing the inspiration he needed to walk again.
