CALLS will be made to reverse a controversial decision to alter a programme to replace hundreds of windows and doors in Redditch Council properties.
In December, a decision was made to review the original £1 million project and replace it with a scheme £350,000 cheaper to just replace the glass and not the frames.
The decision prompted outrage from residents of Lodge Park and Greenlands and some councillors who wanted the original works to be carried as originally planned.
During a full council meeting last week, Lodge Park resident Gerry Marsden presented a petition to councillors urging them to carry out the work as planned.
Labour group leader David Cartwright said a site visit had now been planned and they would be asking for the decision to alter the works to be reviewed and reversed.
He said "Some think to replace the glass and not the frames is just rubbish.
"Some of the properties have got gaps in the windows and just changing the glass will make no difference."
Mr Cartwright said if work was not done properly now, it would affect the valuation of the housing stock if it were ever transferred, although this was not their policy.
"If we did just replace the glass, we would have to do it again in 10 years' time anyway so it means doing work twice," he added.
