A HOLLYWOOD woman returned this week from a 523-mile cycle ride in Cuba to raise funds for mental health charity MIND.
Dr Nicola Hothi hopes to raise £3,000 from the challenge, which took place in the mountains of Havana over six days and in temperatures of 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
The 28 year old, who has a PhD in philosophy, is a project manager for international company Exel and also lectures at Birmingham University.
Her mum Cindy said: "Nicola came back on Monday night and said it was really tough.
"She has been battered and bruised but it was a great achievement and experience."
Mrs Hothi added: "Nicola hadn't been on a bike since she was about 10 years old but she took on the Cuba Challenge because she wouldn't be where she is without her mind and wanted to give something back.
"Nicola has raised about £2,500 so far. Thank you to her main sponsors, two of her uncles - one in Canada sponsored her $1,000 and another £500."
