A ROAD safety officer from Redditch received his MBE from the Queen during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Roger Woodward, who began working for Worcestershire County Council in 1980, initiated training for school minibus drivers following the Hagley RC High School M40 crash.
He also spearheaded the Ludicrous Lollipop Law Campaign to close a loophole stopping crossing patrols helping parents without schoolchildren to cross the road.
Mr Woodward said: "It was a truly memorable day.
"My investiture was at Buckingham Palace on February 18 and was presided over by the Queen.
"The official citation for the award was 'for services to road safety' and her majesty said she was very pleased to have road safety represented at the investiture."
