BUDDING musicians from a Woodrow school celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali by creating music using movement.

Kingsley College pupils created the music using a sound beam, an interactive instrument that converts movement into sound.

The pieces were performed as part of a dance and music presentation to celebrate the religious festival.

Sound beam musician Heather Wastie visited the school to teach pupils how to use the instrument, invented in the 1980s.

The event was part of the Artists and Learning Information and Support Service (Aliss), a teaching initiative that aims to promote creativity in teaching and learning by supporting partnerships between arts and education.
