SIX members of the Redditch division of the Special Constabulary were presented with long service awards on Monday.
Making the presentation, Superintendent WD Gibson, head of the Redditch police division, said he was very grateful for the work they had done.
Bars and rosettes were presented to Special Inspector AF Burns, Special Sergeant JA Darby, Special Constable Stanley Clarke, Special Constable Raymond Bradley and Special Constable George C Newman and the long service medal was awarded to Special Constable James Henry Smith.
To qualify for the medal, a member must have served as a Special Constable without pay during the 1914-18 war for not less than three years and must have performed not less than 150 police duties, or have served as a Special Constable without pay for a period of nine years, or for periods amounting in aggregate to not less than nine years.
The additional bar or clasp is awarded to medal holders on completion of 10 years of service after the award of the medal.
